Ilex Mortis Holly (Death Holly)
There are endless myths revolving around holly including druids who attributed magical powers associated with immortality to the plant. These beliefs made felling holly bad luck, but cutting boughs of holly to hand around the house in the winter months was believed to provide shelter for Sylvian spirits. The grateful "Fae" would in turn bestow good luck upon the home's inhabitants.
Holly with skull berries is paired with an extra large and juicy droplet of rich, red garnet. The back of the stone has a cut-out to further let the light in. A generous dusting of snow lightly coats the leaves in addition to a hidden "jingle" behind the leaves which must be the song of the Fae! Taking shelter within.
Handcrafted out of fine (.999) and sterling (.925) silver and given a mixture of high polishes and brushed finishes. Measures approximately 2" x 1.25" at widest and tallest points and weighs almost one ounce.
This piece comes with chain! The sterling silver chain as shown above is included and measures approximately 18".
As always, stones are ethically sourced and artisan cut.
