Star Gazing Oracle - Full Moon Edition
August 1 2023, Supermoon
The August moon is most commonly known as the "Sturgeon Moon" which honors the harvest of Sturgeon fish in the Great Lakes area and Lake Champlain as they were easily caught at this time.
But did you know moons do not just have one name? The names we know the moon for come from our ancestors, mainly various Native American tribes and often more colloquial understandings of our natural world's phases and the cycles of the land. To some tribes, the August moon was known as the "Corn Moon" as the first harvest and the "Flying Up Moon" as a term to describe when young fledglings are taking flight.
This particular "Star Gazing Oracle" honors The Corn Moon. Handmade out of sterling and fine silver, this piece offers a rising ornate moon cradling a very special stone. This smaller moon is fossilized wood! With a very unique and interesting patterning that resembles a little section of an ear of gem corn. I have also draped a few silver oak leaves over the bottom of this corn moon, as it is the time of harvest and soon to be falling leaves.
This particular pendant measures approximately 1" x 1" not including bail and weighs approximately .50 ounces in total. It DOES comes with chain! Included at no charge, the chain you see above which is a darkened, sterling silver rosary style chain measuring 20" long with lobster clasp.
As always, stones are ethically sourced and artisan cut.
